We try to surpass each individuals expectations of how 'perfect' dental treatment can be! This practice was started in 1942 by an air force officer who returned from WWII. In 1946, he was replaced by another military dentist who was here until 1949. In 1949, Mrs Madigan, who was the first female dentist in NSW took over the practice. She was not the first female dentist in Australia, because that
goes to a lady dentist in Melbourne. Mrs Madigan’s son, Anthony represented Australia in both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games for boxing. Anthony actually went on to fight the great Muhammad Ali and is one of the few boxers to go the distance against Ali! He did it twice, 1959 and 1960. Mrs Madigan was replaced by yet another military dentist in 1952. This dentist sadly met his death by laying on the train tracks at Fairfield station. He obviously came back from the war with some psychological problems. Dr. Albert Melocco took over the practice in 1956. Dr. Melocco practiced in Fairfield from 1956 to 1984. Dr Etcell arrived in Fairfield in 1984 and purchased the practice from Dr. Melocco, who then retired. In 2019, before Covid-19 existed Dr James El-Khoury joined us and once Dr Excell felt the practice was in good hands he decided to retire and take up making wine shelves. Dr Etcell retired in February 2022 and Dr El-Khoury has been here full time ever since
