Thanks everyone for their patience as our flooring is replaced! It's a satisfying refresh and we've taken the opportunity to do a big spring clean too!

The renovation works are coming along nicely and we're so happy when our patients and colleagues share our excitement. Is anyone interested in some before/during/ after photos once we're all finished? 🤩

We are VERY VERY EXCITED to announce EDG is CLOSED from Thursday 4th of June to Monday 15th of June for an exciting renovation to our flooring and front desk area. Did we mention that we are excited? 🤩

During this time our emails and voicemail will be periodically checked, so it may take longer than usual to get back to you. In an emergency, please seek help with your GP, local dentist, dental hospital, or (if it can wait) we will respond to messages with the details of some lovely dentists who have agreed to help our patients who need to be seen sooner rather than later.

We also offer online booking via our website if you need to make an appointment for the future.

We are EXCITEDLY looking forward to welcoming you back in our refreshed space!

Winter Is Coming…… So is Sensitivity!

If sipping hot coffee or breathing in cold air makes your teeth ache, you’re not alone. There are lots of reasons why winter can trigger tooth sensitivity, some of these include:
- receding gums and exposed root surface areas
- enamel is worn down or eroded
- teeth can have tiny cracks
- nerves exposed
- cavities may be present
- stress and cold weather can increase grinding and clenching
- a dry mouth due to indoor heating
- large amounts of sugar or acid exposure from foods/drinks, reflux etc
- cold air or sharp temperature changes

The sudden change in temperature can cause the teeth to expand and contract slightly, which can irritate the nerves inside the teeth.

Tips that can help sensitivity:
- drinking warm water instead of icy drinks
- apply sensitive toothpaste on exposed roots and leave overnight
- avoiding rapid temperature changes such as icy water after hot drinks
- small fillings may be required to cover and protect exposed surfaces
- a night guard can help with protecting teeth if grinding/clenching
- a high fluoride treatment may be advised by your dentist

Book your examination and clean today on 9337 5589 or book online and we can discuss and assist you with any sensitivity issues you may have.

Your teeth deserve winter protection too. Stay warm and smile comfortably this winter!

Today the practice was closed for our annual Staff Training Day 🦷🚑
Our team completed CPR and medical emergency management updates with Pat from Cynergex Group alongside our very patient training assistant… Manny the mannequin 2.0.
After a productive morning of learning, we enjoyed Korean BBQ followed by an escape room 🔐✨ Unfortunately, while we are fully trained to manage medical emergencies and an eating buffet, we can confirm we are NOT qualified escape artists 🚪❌ (But at least the teamwork was excellent!)

EASTER is one of the sweetest times of the year, it’s a celebration full of chocolate eggs, colour, fun ... and sugar!

But enjoying your chocolate treats doesn’t mean you have to forget about your smile. With a few simple habits, you can keep your teeth healthy and still enjoy every bite.

1. Choose Chocolate Wisely
Plain chocolate (especially dark chocolate) is better than sticky or chewy sweets
Avoid caramels, toffees and filled eggs with gooey centres which tend to stick on the enamel for longer.

2. Timing Matters
Instead of grazing all day, enjoy treats after a meal
Your mouth produces more saliva during meals, which helps wash away sugars and neutralise acids.

3. Brush – But not immediately
Brushing straight away can sometimes damage enamel if acids are still present, best wait 30-60 minutes

4. Think ‘Quality over Quantity’
Pick your favourite, save some for later and share with family and friends

5. Keep the Easter Smile Bright
Stick to the basics, brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily.

So, enjoy that chocolate bunny and take care of your smile at the same time. It might be a good idea to show your teeth some love and book your 6 monthly examination and professional clean now. Give us a call on 9337 5589 or book online at www.essendondentalgroup.com.au

Your sweet tooth and future self-will thank you.

Our end-of-year celebration at is a special time to come together, reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the past and set intentions for a brighter future. It is a joy to share a meal, revisit our traditions and hear plenty of laughter.

Above all, we’re grateful for the people who make it all possible—our team, our patients, and our wider community—each connected and collectively shaping Essendon Dental Group.
