🦷 Crooked Teeth – Causes and Treatments 😁
Few people naturally have perfectly aligned teeth. Most of us have teeth that are a little crooked, while some have teeth that are very crooked. 🦷✨ This can be an aesthetic issue—we tend to prefer the look of teeth that are neat and tidy. 😁 But crookedness can also make it harder to keep our teeth clean. Sometimes, crooked teeth can affect speaking and eating. 🗣️🍎
🤔 What causes crooked teeth?
🧬 Genetics: Most often, the issue is genetic. We were simply born with teeth that came out crooked, and we never had orthodontic treatment to rectify this.
👶 Thumb sucking: Thumb sucking as a child, mostly after the age of five, seems to be linked to crooked teeth.
🦷 Early loss of baby teeth: Losing a baby tooth early can lead to other teeth moving, followed by adult teeth that do not emerge correctly.
🏃♂️ Injuries: Anything from car accidents to sporting mishaps can injure teeth and cause alignment issues.
🦷 Tooth loss: A tooth lost in adulthood can lead to other teeth shifting their position.
Brushing and cleaning will not straighten teeth. 🪥 Nor will lack of cleaning directly cause teeth to become crooked. But if we do not clean our teeth properly and a tooth is lost to decay, the surrounding teeth may move and become crooked. ⚠️
