A subtle yet impactful change to the frame of the teeth.
This patient came in feeling self-conscious about an uneven gum line. Before anything was done we used Digital Smile Design to map out exactly where the gums would be re-contoured.
 
The procedure was straightforward, the recovery was minimal and the two week review confirmed exactly what we had planned from the beginning.

The most common thing we hear from patients who have been avoiding the dentist is that nothing hurt, so they assumed everything was fine.

Decay and gum disease are both largely silent in the early stages. The absence of pain is not the same as the absence of a problem. By the time there is something to feel, it has usually been developing for a while.

The good news is that what takes years to develop is often straightforward to address when it is caught early.

Bleeding gums are not something your dentist causes. They are something we find.

It is one of the most common misconceptions we hear. That the probing is what makes gums bleed. But a healthy gum does not bleed when you probe it. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation that was already there.

And yes, we can tell when you have not been flossing. Every time.

Gum disease is painless in the early stages which is exactly why most people do not know they have it. By the time there are symptoms, it has often been progressing for a while.
