Dr Phuong walks through what Invisalign treatment actually involves, from the first appointment to the last aligner.
Clear aligners work by shifting teeth gradually, addressing crowding, crookedness and gaps. Treatment commonly runs somewhere between six months and a year and a half, though the length depends on the complexity of the case and varies from person to person.
The sequence matters more than people expect. Before any aligners are ordered, general dental health needs addressing first. Examinations, cleans and any fillings required all come before orthodontic treatment begins, since moving teeth around untreated decay is not a workable plan.
From there it is diagnostic records. Photographs, a 3D scan and X-rays, which together produce a digital treatment plan showing the projected movement. That plan is reviewed with you before anything is manufactured.
Once the aligners arrive, the wear time is the part that determines how treatment progresses. Around 22 hours a day, removed only for eating, brushing, and drinking anything other than water. Compliance with that is a significant factor in how closely treatment follows the plan.
Whether aligners suit your case comes from the clinical assessment rather than the scan alone.
The wear time is the part that does the work.
