Council is closing the Walter Taylor Bridge over four weekends in May and June while the nodes that connect the bridge's cables to it's truss are replaced. The bridge cannot carry any load during these works; therefore, full closures of the Bridge have been scheduled on the following weekends in May and June 2026, weather permitting.
🚧 9pm Friday 22 May to 5am Monday 25 May
🚧 9pm Friday 29 May to 5am Monday 1 June
🚧 9pm Friday 5 June to 5am Monday 8 June
🚧 9pm Friday 19 June to 5am Monday 22 June
A section of Wharf St, Chelmer between Rosebery Tce and Regatta St, and Radnor St, Indooroopilly between Foxton St and Riverview Tce, will also be closed during works. Overnight lane closures will occur from mid-June (9pm-5am, Sunday-Thursday) for scaffold removal.
🚶➡️ The bridge footpath will remain closed until the works are complete. The Jack Pesch Bridge remains open to pedestrians and cyclists during this time.
🚌 Bus routes 105, 106, 127, 598 and 599 will be impacted during the closures and temporary bus stop changes will be in place. Passengers will need to disembark on either side of the river, use the train to cross, and continue their journey by bus.
