Early orthodontic treatment is often divided into two phases — but this doesn’t mean treatment is “split for no reason.”
It reflects two different goals at two different stages of growth.

🦷 Phase 1 (Early Interceptive Treatment)

Usually around ages 6-10

The goal is NOT to finish alignment, but to guide development:

✔ Create space (e.g. expansion)
✔ Correct developing jaw discrepancies
✔ Manage eruption path of permanent teeth
✔ Reduce severity of future problems
✔ Sometimes avoid extractions or complex treatment later

Think of this as:
👉 “Guiding growth while the jaw is still developing”

🦷 Phase 2 (Comprehensive Treatment)

Usually in adolescence when all permanent teeth erupt

Now we focus on:

✔ Final alignment of all teeth
✔ Bite finishing (occlusion refinement)
✔ Root positioning & torque control
✔ Aesthetic smile detailing

Think of this as:
👉 “Finishing and perfecting the smile”

Phase 1 does NOT replace Phase 2.

Instead, it often:
✔ makes Phase 2 easier
✔ reduces complexity
✔ improves long-term stability and facial development

The mother of this 8-year-old patient noticed that he clenches his teeth during sleep at night. During the consultation with , it was also observed that the newly erupted permanent teeth already showed signs of wear, along with an overbite.

Upper partial braces were started for this patient, with treatment aims including correcting the crossbite, improving smile aesthetics, reducing tooth grinding, and supporting healthy lip and soft tissue function.

A challenging case, a happy outcome ✨ — .julieghaly k

This 70s patient came to us with a severely blocked-out lower right canine—completely outside the arch. Because of some existing medical conditions, extraction wasn’t the right option for her.

With a carefully planned Invisalign treatment , we were able to gently guide the tooth back into place in a relatively short time—no surgery, no extraction.

It’s a great reminder that with the right approach, beautiful results are possible—even in more complex cases, at any age 💫
