Many patients are surprised to learn that tongue-tie doesn’t just affect babies — it can also impact children and adults in different ways. Here are some of the common signs we see in clinic:

Babies:
• Difficulty latching or staying latched
• Long or tiring feeds
• Clicking sounds during feeding
• Slow weight gain
• Gassy, unsettled or reflux-like behaviour

Children:
• Speech difficulties
• Messy eating or slow chewing
• Gagging on solids
• Difficulty moving the tongue freely
• Sleep issues, snoring or mouth-breathing

Adults:
• Jaw or neck tension
• Snoring or poor oral posture
• Trouble with certain speech sounds
• Difficulty cleaning behind lower front teeth
