Patient from the UK comes in for a deep clean.

Westlake Dental team repeatedly says we can numb it and continues reminding the patient that we can stop at any point. Patient continuously says no numbing required. This exchange between the team and patient goes on.

Part way through the deep clean, Dr Gilbert says in a deep British accent " you are made of sterner stuff. Mr Winston Churchill will be very proud of you.. and you maintained a stiff upper lip!"

We had to stop not because of the discomfort but the sheer fact that we didn't anticipate that from Dr Gilbert! Patient even commented, "You are awesome!" between chuckles.

At the end of the day, Shaleen tells Dr Gilbert, "Not bad! You never fail to surprise me, whether it's a complex implant, extraction, dad jokes... or (now) vocal mimicry! Your repertoire is impressive!"

Amidst the bustle of delivering quality care, we also have special moments when patients trust us enough to share with us the immense burdens they carry.

One of our stoic patients walked in and gave Shaleen a bee key chain. The significance of this keychain is one that will stay with us forever.

The patient said her specialist had used the beehive as an analogy to describe the type of cancer she has. And since then, bees have a special yet positive meaning to her. She also shared with us how life with the treatments has been.

Chats like these make us recognize the privilege of being invited into a patient’s life during a very difficult time. The best part of our job is listening to patients' stories, finding out what gives their lives meaning, what brings them joy and what is important to them 💛🐝✨️🦷

🎨Another accomplished, local Artist Linda Watson 🎨

Linda attended many art lessons years ago and fine tuned her artistic skills. She has painted a variety of paintings from the Mona Lisa to rain forests and portraits. Linda also enjoys the use of pastels, charcoal and pencils.

After not painting for a number of years Linda has found a new love, which is now teaching others how to paint, draw and create their own art pieces so they can enjoy being creative and having some time out to themselves 🙌

Some of you may have already attended her workshop and might have left her workshop in awe, thinking how she is able to guide us through her workshop to bring home beautifully curated canvases! ✨️
