How long do dental implants last? 🦷

With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, implants can last a lifetime. The implant itself — the titanium fixture in the bone — is designed to be long term. The crown on top may need replacing after 15–20 years depending on wear.

Compare that to a bridge, which typically lasts around 15 years and requires healthy teeth to be permanently altered on either side.

For most patients, an implant is the closest thing to a natural tooth — in both feel and longevity.

Not every damaged tooth needs a full crown.

If there's still enough healthy tooth left, an onlay can restore it while keeping more of your natural tooth in place. If there isn't, a crown is the better call.

What's recovery like after IV sedation? 😴

Most patients feel drowsy and a little fuzzy for the rest of the day — which is exactly why you need someone to take you home. By the next morning, the vast majority feel completely back to normal.

You won't be able to drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for 24 hours after your sedation appointment. But you will have got through your dental treatment comfortably — often treatment that had been sitting on a to-do list for years.

Can I have IV sedation for dental implants? Yes — and many of our patients do.

Implant surgery under IV sedation means you're completely comfortable and unaware throughout the procedure. You wake up with no memory of it and — most importantly — with your new implant in place.
