Meet Dr Tariq Ali - Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon 👋

A dual-qualified specialist in both dentistry and medicine, with extensive training across Australia and the UK, including fellowships treating complex facial trauma.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery brings together medicine, dentistry and surgery — allowing treatment ranging from dental implants and wisdom teeth through to complex jaw surgery, facial trauma, head and neck pathology and reconstruction.

Welcoming Dr Thomas Young to MIC who we are pleased to announce is offering his services on a monthly basis at our Central Queensland practice and also providing a locum service at our Sunshine Coast practice when required.

Dr Tom Young is an Australian-trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Born in Brisbane, Tom earned his medical degree from Monash University. Following internship and residency, he obtained his fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, working as a specialist medical general practitioner in Melbourne for a number of years.

Tom returned to university, completing his dental degree at the University of Melbourne where he graduated with distinction. Along the way he received numerous academic awards including the Dean’s Honours List, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Academic Prize and the John Iliffe Scholarship Prize for graduating top of the class.

Tom worked in a number of surgical fields, including Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology. He moved with his family back to Brisbane after being selected for the Queensland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program. He gained valuable experience in many of Queensland’s major hospitals including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, the Mater Hospital and the Queensland Children’s Hospital. He completed his training and obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Tom practises the full-scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with a special interest in dentoalveolar surgery, implantology, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, and obstructive sleep apnoea. He currently has a public appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Nick Beech joins our team!

Dr Beech enjoys practising the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has a number of special interests including removal of impacted wisdom teeth, dental implants, management of facial trauma, orthognathic surgery and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) surgery. Whether you have a problematic wisdom tooth or a broken jaw, his friendly demeanour and approachable manner will put you at ease. He will take the time to make sure you understand the options available for your treatment.

Dr Beech lives on the Sunshine Coast with his wife and two small children. He consults at Maxillofacial and Implant Centre at both the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland locations and operates at Kawana Private Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital and Mater Hospital Rockhampton.
