With the ACT relaxing mandatory mask requirements , we still ask everyone over the age of 12 to continue to wear a face mask in our practice … in consideration of others,
protecting patients, staff and the community. Thank you.

WONDERFUL POSITIVE news late yesterday! It’s official...ACT Health advised us we have progressed to Level 1 restrictions. The guidelines allow us to carry out all dental procedures on patients who display NO signs or symptoms of illness.
We want to thank all our patients for your responsible attitude and patience during such a difficult time.
In the coming days we will be contacting all those patients who have had to delay appointments to rebook you.
While on Level 1 restrictions, social distancing is still required in the waiting room and magazines and books are still removed.
We ask patients to use the hand sanitizer at the front door before entering.
As usual strict infection control measures are maintained and a full wipe down of all waiting room surfaces is carried out frequently throughout the day.
We will continue to ask all patients to use a pre procedural mouth rinse in the treatment room. We do ask that any patient or family member who has cold or flu like symptoms, or has had in the previous 3 weeks ( cough, runny nose, high temperature or sore throat) reschedule your appointment for at least 2 weeks later.
Again, THANK YOU for your understanding and patience.
We are all delighted to be back, and look forward to seeing you soon 😊

On March 26th we received the news that we had progressed to Level 3 restrictions for all dental practices from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).The advice was given to the National Cabinet for their endorsement.
ā€œAHPPC recommends adopting the ā€œManaging COVID-19 Guidelinesā€ published by the Australian Dental Association and implementing a triage system for dental practice.AHPPC recommends that all dental practices implement Level 3 restrictions as outlined in ADA’s guidance. That is, dentists should only perform dental treatments that do not generate aerosols,or where treatment generating aerosols is limited. All routine examinations and treatments ,including lost fillings and broken teeth ,should be deferred.ā€
This recommendation is based on the continuing spread of COVID-19 including more cases of community transmission, and the risk associated with aerosols created during dental procedures.
We are currently contacting all patients who were scheduled in the coming weeks and rescheduling where we can or placing you on a contact list. As soon as we have a clear indication of when we can recommence treating patients we will all be up and running again! We now have a dedicated hygienists room and two surgeries....and dedicated staff very keen to be back at work as soon as possible. We hope that this closure is a matter of weeks, not months, and will not be detrimental for your oral health in any way . We stress we want to see our wonderful patients as soon as we can!
We will update our page regularly and share any updates we receive. As ADA members we are updated almost daily and are involved in all available webinars.
Our practice phone (62512530)will be diverted to a mobile. Please call or message with any emergencies or concerns. If needed we may request an email with a clear photograph to diagnose. Our email address is [email protected].
Rick and Sue have registered to be on the ADA emergency roster. Dentists who register are available to provide emergency consultations and palliative treatment ONLY.
To all our fabulous patients and their families, please look after yourselves during this very challenging time . Stay safe , isolate yourselves as much as possible, and we look forward to seeing you as soon as we can
Thank you for your patience and understanding at this very challenging time,
Rick,Sue,Emily,Kim,Sandra,Sandy,Valeska,
Katharine,Renee and Bernie 😊

We were hoping this post would just be a happy one to announce that we have moved into our brand new practice and looking forward to seeing you all there. However, this excitement has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Like everyone,Wisdom Dentistry is monitoring the situation very closely. We are open to see those with emergencies, pain, broken teeth etc. but not undertaking cosmetic procedures or those that can be delayed as advised. We are following all recommendations from the Australian Dental Association, our governing body. We have been involved in webinars held at night this week, specifically to educate and advise dentists, hygienists and all staff. Our staff are well informed and aware of their responsibilities in managing this situation. Dental practices go to great lengths with infection control routinely. We have introduced extra precautions with Covid-19. We take everyone’s health and well-being very seriously- our patients, staff, families and ourselves.
When you contact us or we contact you, we will ask you several questions. If you answer ā€œyesā€ to any of these we will reschedule your appointment.
1. Do you have any respiratory symptoms,a cough or fever. Have you experienced gastrointestinal problems or diarrhoea in the last 4-5 days?
2. Have you been overseas in the last 21 days?
3. Have you been in contact with anyone who has and has had to quarantine?
4.Have you been in contact with anyone who has been confirmed to have Covid-19?
5.Are you, or any of your family immunosuppressive or have a serious medical situation at present?
The extra precautions we are taking at present include
1. Asking everyone before entering the front door to use the hand sanitizer supplied .
2. We ask people to come alone or children to be accompanied by one adult, to limit the number of patients in the waiting room.
3.We have removed all magazines and toys from the waiting room to minimize potential infection.
4.When you come into a surgery you will be instructed to leave your personal items in designated containers.
5. You will need to perform a pretreatment rinse to reduce the bacteria in your mouth
This is a really challenging time for us all.
Be reassured we are doing everything in our power to make it a safe environment for our patients, staff, families and the wider community.
Anyone we feel is unwell or not advised to have treatment will be rescheduled.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time. We will endeavour to post regular updates, any changes in the situation and are looking into the possibility of virtual consultations .
We thank you for your help and understanding and hope that everyone stays healthy and we get through this as quickly and safely as possible.

We are excited to announce our big relocation is happening early March! Wisdom Dentistry is moving to brand new rooms in 40 Cameron Avenue, Belconnen. We are on level 2 in Suite 5. As many patients will know it’s been a year since the decision was made to relocate. Northpoint Plaza was sold 15 months ago, and although we were invited to remain on in the building in a different location, we decided early last year to explore other options. What followed was 8 months of decisions, planning, lawyers, legislation, approvals. The build started in December 2019. We are so lucky to have a wonderful team working together to make this all happen.....Pat,Chris,Jim,Chris,Dean,Daniel and Matt.....all fabulous at what they do ( and very patient patients 😊) All the dental installations are being done by Steve Hodgkins ,a long suffering colleague and friend, who has always rescued us from equipment failures ....sometimes patiently talking us to a solution from the other side of the world in the middle of the night !!! The weekends have been a hive of activity with Kim’s husband John (and Rick’s walking buddy )creating the reception desk and generally helping in any way he can . Our son Dave and grandson Will have joined in the laughs and banter on weekends while sorting out our IT installations . That’s a burden they wear with a smile, and many a raised eyebrow, trying to explain the latest technology to those who need simple and foolproof! A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone making this happen.
Our phone number 62512530 remains the same and KIM will be there to help you. Look forward to welcoming our wonderful patients soon in our brand new rooms šŸŽ‰
