Demineralization, or the "brown stain" phenomenon is a clinical sign that early tooth decay has progressed. As minerals are lost, teeth initially develop white, chalky spots. If these areas are not remineralized, they can absorb pigments from food, drinks, or bacteria, turning yellow and eventually brown, indicating that the enamel is actively breaking down. This means you need to have the tooth looked at by your dentist and importantly improve your hygiene.
