Here’s 3 things to consider when deciding between traditional braces and Invisalign (that doesn’t just come down to looks):
1. Appearance and discretion
Traditional braces use brackets and wires that are quite noticeable. Invisalign uses clear aligners that are much more discreet and often go unnoticed. If you prefer a subtle treatment option, Invisalign tends to be the more appealing choice.
2. Comfort and maintenance
Braces are fixed, which means you’ll need to be mindful of certain foods and take extra care when brushing and flossing around brackets. Invisalign aligners are removable, making it easier to eat, brush, and floss as normal. However, they do need to be worn consistently (20–22 hours a day) to be effective.
3. Treatment control and flexibility
Braces are always working since they’re fixed in place, which can be beneficial for more complex cases or for patients who may not want to worry about compliance. Invisalign gives you the flexibility to remove your aligners when needed, but results depend heavily on how consistently they’re worn.
Everyone’s situation is different, but these 3 points are a great place to start. If you'd like to find out more, book a consult with our expert dentists to explore your options.
