Baby teeth may be small but they play a very BIG and important role in holding the space for our grown up teeth. Keeping them clean and healthy until they fall out also sets the foundation for healthy adult smiles 😁🦷🤗

👶 Babies and children between ages 0-3 years aren’t able to spit out. That’s why we recommend using a tiny smear or a rice grain size of toothpaste as soon as the first tooth appears. This will help prevent decay and get your child familiarized to the different flavours and textures of toothpaste as well as get them into a good oral care routine.

🧒 From age 3+ onwards
Continue to show your child how to spit out during brushing and once you notice they aren’t swallowing too much of the toothpaste you can start to use a pea sized amount. Once they finish DO NOT rinse the mouth with water.

👍 Some tips of tricks on how to prepare and teach your child to spit:
🪞Have yourself and your child stand in front of a mirror together in the bathroom. Then model spitting into the sink for the child and take turns.
🎯 Place a small target, like coloured tape or a sticker in the sink and encourage your child to spit toothpaste onto the target.

A grown up should be helping their child brush their teeth until age 7-8 or until the child is able to tie their own shoelaces. This is the approximate age where their fine motor skills become refined enough to master the skill of toothbrushing on their own.

This is a rough guide that shows when to expect your little ones teeth to come through 🦷🤗

Most babies start teething between 6-10 months of age but some can start as early as 4 months and as late as 12 months.

Remember, every baby and their teething journeys are unique so don’t stress if little ones teeth come in a different order 😃

This one of the most common questions we get asked!

The Australian Dental Association recommends all children should have their first check up by the time their first tooth appears or by their 1st birthday - which ever comes first. They should be regularly seen by a dentist from that age onwards every 6-12 months.

Don’t worry if your little one only has one or a few teeth. The first visit is all about introducing your little one to a new environment and new people. They’ll be introduced to the dentist, the dental team, instruments like a mirror and toothbrush and there’s likely to be a ride in the dental chair!

The check up itself is usually very quick, we try to make it super fun so that it’s memorable for all the right reasons!

👶🦷 Start brushing your baby’s gums even before those little teeth pop up! Why? Because it’s all about getting them used to the feeling of brushing early on. By introducing brushing now, you’re helping them get comfy with the idea, making it way easier when their teeth do start to show. It’s like giving them a head start on good dental habits! 🌟

Also, before your child’s teeth come through no toothpaste is needed 😁

Today is World Sleep Day and we want to take this opportunity to raise awareness about Sleep Disordered Breathing.

Sleep disordered breathing is any type of breathing that causes a reduction or obstruction of airflow into the body during sleep. It disrupts sleep and prevents kids from moving into deep and restful stages of sleep.

Sleep is crucial in the early years of life. Deep restful sleep supports brain development, plays an important role in learning, memory and emotional regulation.

Here are 3 signs to watch out for during a child sleeping that may be experiencing sleep disordered breathing:

1. Snoring
2. Mouth Breathing
3. Teeth Grinding
