Feed Your Smile

🍎 What you eat & drink affects your teeth and people who play a lot of sport tend to rehydrate and replace electrolytes with sugary energy drinks and lollies. But there are plenty of ways to do this which will be better for not only your teeth but your overall health and recovery.

Try to:
πŸ₯› Choose water – you could add a squeeze of orange juice for some flavour.
🍌 Snack on fresh fruit, vegetables and cheese to get some energy back. Bananas are an excellent energy food!
🍬 Keep sugary treats to mealtimes rather than frequent snacking.

Every time we eat or drink something sugary, bacteria produce acids that can attack our teeth. If we are doing this regularly, we significantly increase the likelihood of tooth decay.

Healthy choices help protect your smile every day.

🦷 Don't Forget Between Your Teeth

Your toothbrush can't reach every surface, especially below your gum line which is where lots of bacteria and food likes to hide and fester.

Daily flossing helps remove plaque and food where decay and gum disease often begin. We understand that traditional flossing can be tricky for some, but there are plenty of other options out there to help you to clean between your teeth. Some of these are: interdental brushes, flossettes and access flossers – which are like a toothbrush but with a floss-head instead of a brush.

Whether you like to floss in front of the mirror at home, in the shower or in the car, anything is better than nothing and starting somewhere is the best thing. Healthy gums are just as important as healthy teeth.

Our lovely hygienists are always here to help and can teach you how to floss in all of these ways.

Brush Twice Every Day

πŸͺ₯ Whether you are using an electric or manual toothbrush, brushing your teeth for two minutes, twice a day with fluoride toothpaste is one of the easiest ways to protect your smile.

Did you know?
β€’ Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel.
β€’ Brushing removes plaque that can lead to decay and gum disease.
β€’ Replace your toothbrush every 3 months or sooner if the bristles become worn.

Small daily habits make a big difference.

How old is your toothbrush?
