De Necker Dentistry De Necker Dentistry is a group of experienced professional dentists based in Melville, Century City and George offering many dental treatments.

At De Necker Dentistry, we believe that aesthetic dentistry offers both physical and psychological benefits. A dazzling smile can improve your self-esteem and it speaks volumes about your health and how you take care of yourself. The perfect smile is about the position of the teeth, how the upper jaw is positioned against the lower jaw, where the gum position is and how the lips fall against the teeth and frame the smile. Aesthetic dental treatment options include the following:
Whitening
Traditional fixed orthodontic treatment
Removable wireless orthodontic treatment
Implants
Veneers, Crowns and bridges
Porcelain restorations
Composite tooth coloured restorations
Contouring
Correction of gummy smiles with crown lengthening, lip repositions
Removable partial dentures
Full dentures
Contact your De Necker dentist who will determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made laminates that are permanently fixed directly to the teeth. They are an option to change the size, shape, position and colour of the teeth. Veneers are used to close gaps, straighten teeth, replace worn edges or resurface discoloured teeth that did not get white enough with the whitening procedures. The best candidates for veneers are people whose teeth are healthy and free of decay and periodontal disease. Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer covers the visible front part of the tooth and slightly wraps over the biting edge. First appointment: Your dentist will help you select a suitable smile style and colour. The teeth are prepared by removing about 0.5 to 1 mm of enamel from the front sides so that the tooth doesn’t look big or bulky once the veneer is attached. Your dentist makes an impression of the prepared tooth to be used by the De Necker Dentistry on-site laboratory. Temporaries are made so that you don’t walk around with unsightly teeth. The temporaries are not as strong as the final veneers, so we ask our patients to eat soft foods. Once you have the final veneers, you will be able to eat normally and floss the veneers individually. The De Necker Dentistry laboratory will need one to two weeks to fabricate the veneers. Second appointment: When you return for your second visit, the veneers will be checked for fit, shape, size and colour and if needed, small adjustment can be made. Once the patient is happy with the fit, the veneers are then permanently bonded to the teeth with resin cement. Veneers are not indestructible so we advise our patients to avoid biting their nails, opening hard objects and chewing ice.

A Heartfelt Farewell to Dr Anelle Coetsee

After 23 incredible years at our Melville practice, Dr Anelle Coetsee will be moving to beautiful Plettenberg Bay this September to begin an exciting new chapter.

Dr Anelle has been an integral part of the De Necker Dentistry family for more than two decades. Her professionalism, clinical excellence, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her patients have left a lasting impact on the practice, the team, and the many smiles she has cared for over the years.

She will be sorely missed by all of us.

In her own words:

“Gosh! What does one say after 23 years?!?

There are so many memories, experiences and growth, that it is truly difficult to put it in a few words. I will always cherish these, that is for sure.

I walked into this practice 23 years ago, as a young, inexperienced dentist, fresh from community service. The people in this practice, that I have been surrounded by through the years, had a strong influence on my professional career. I was constantly inspired to be the best dentist I could possibly be. I appreciate the opportunity I had here to grow in my career and to be part of such an excellent team. You will all be sorely missed.

I am excited for the new challenges in the lovely coastal environment of Plettenberg Bay, and hope to take my successes at De Necker Dentistry with me on this journey.

I wish Dr Gys, the practice and all the staff, the very best for the future.

To all my loyal and beloved patients that became part of the De Necker Dentistry family, and contributed to my growth as a dentist, I wish you all healthy and happy smiles.

I am still available for bookings with my patients at De Necker Dentistry until 14 August.

Love,
Anelle”

Thank you, Dr Anelle, for your years of loyal service, compassion, and excellence. We wish you every happiness and success in this next adventure. Plettenberg Bay is lucky to have you. ❤️
