Can porcelain crowns cause bad breath ?
Porcelain crowns themselves are not usually the direct cause of bad breath. If an unpleasant odor develops after treatment, it is more often related to plaque buildup, food trapped around the crown, gum inflammation or inadequate oral hygiene
Some common causes include:
🦷 Food trapped around the crown
🦷 Plaque buildup
🦷 Gum inflammation
🦷 Inadequate cleaning between the teeth
🦷 A crown that does not fit properly or needs further evaluation
A properly made and well maintained crown can function comfortably and effectively, much like a natural tooth
So if you notice bad breath after getting porcelain crowns, don’t immediately blame the crowns. Have your teeth and gums checked to identify the actual cause ✅
