✨ YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST. ✨
I know it’s disappointing to travel overseas for surgery and then hear:
🩺 “We need more tests.”
⏳ “Your surgery must be delayed.”
❌ “You’re not medically cleared.”
After months of planning, saving and preparing, that news can be incredibly difficult. But please don’t be angry about the health checks — be grateful they’re being done. ❤️
Working with surgeons in Vietnam, I’ve seen medical assessments uncover serious problems patients didn’t know they had, including suspected breast cancer, blood clots in the legs and significant clots in the lungs.
In these cases, surgery had to stop and patients were sent back to Australia for appropriate care. It was disappointing, but discovering these conditions before surgery may have saved their lives.
🇦🇺 BEFORE YOU LEAVE AUSTRALIA
One of the best things you can do is have a health check with your own doctor before you travel.
Depending on your medical history and the procedure you’re having, your doctor may recommend blood tests such as:
🩸 Full Blood Count (FBC)
🦋 Thyroid Function Tests (TSH, Free T4)
💪 Iron studies / ferritin
⚡ Electrolytes and kidney function
🧪 Liver function tests
❤️ Other tests your doctor considers appropriate
Bring your results and relevant medical information with you.
🇻🇳 WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN VIETNAM
Your hospital or surgical team will also carry out its own medical assessment. Depending on your circumstances and the procedure, this may include further blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound examinations, ECG/heart checks or other investigations.
And yes — sometimes they may ask for even more testing.
That isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
It is part of making sure you are medically suitable for surgery. 🛡️
A responsible surgical team should assess your individual health rather than simply assuming that because you travelled overseas, you’re automatically fit for an operation.
❤️ YOUR LIFE
❤️ YOUR HEALTH
❤️ YOUR SAFETY
come before any cosmetic procedure.
So please don’t see those tests as an inconvenience or an unnecessary expense.
See them as another layer of protection.
Sometimes the best news before surgery is:
❌ “We’re not going to operate today.”
Because cosmetic surgery can wait.
Your health can’t. ❤️
✨ YOUR HEALTH IS PARAMOUNT. SURGERY COMES SECOND. ✨
