Today, I had an 84-year-old patient in my chair where I am Temping. She walked 45 minutes to get to her dental appointment because she no longer drives.

Fortunately, I had a cancellation in my schedule and was able to drive her back home after her appointment.

It really made me think about how difficult accessing dental care can become as we age or lose our independence. Transportation, mobility issues, medical conditions, and simply getting to a dental office can become major barriers to receiving routine care.

Bringing Dental care directly to seniors, homebound individuals, people with disabilities, and others who have difficulty accessing a traditional dental office can make such a difference.

This is why I’m so passionate about being an Rdhap-mobile dental hygienist.

As an RDHAP, I focus on treatment for individuals with mobility limitations, disabilities, special needs, and those who are homebound.

Some days, mobile dental hygiene means putting a lot of miles on the road and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Yesterday I drove from Torrance ➡️ Palos Verdes ➡️ La Mirada to bring dental hygiene care directly to some very special patients.

For many of the people I serve, getting to a traditional dental office can be difficult or even impossible. That’s why I go to them.

I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow mobile dental professional today, Dr Barrett in Placentia.
I loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at some of her incredible high-tech dental equipment. So impressive!
Our time together went by way too quickly, we really only scratched the surface. What excited me most wasn’t just the technology, but discovering that we share the same passion: bringing quality dental care to the eldery and underserved patients and to people who have difficulty accessing traditional dental care.
I’m looking forward to getting together again, sharing ideas, and talking about ways we can collaborate to help even more people.
There is so much we can accomplish when dental professionals with the same mission connect!

Dental hygiene samples are always fun to receive!

Thank you Tonochi for sending me these samples to try! I received their Max toothbrushes and SlimWeave Floss, designed for those tight spaces between teeth.

As a dental hygienist, I’m always interested in discovering new oral-care products that may help make daily home care easier and more effective for my patients. I’m looking forward to trying these out and seeing what I think!
