🦷 Why Should Your Child See an Orthodontist by Age 7?

Age 7 might seem early to think about braces, but it’s actually the perfect time for your child’s first orthodontic evaluation! 😁

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic checkup no later than age 7.

Why? Because even while baby teeth are still present, we can evaluate how your child’s jaws are growing, how their bite is developing, and whether their permanent teeth have enough room.

Early evaluations can help us identify:
✅ Crossbites and bite problems
✅ Crowding and spacing concerns
✅ Jaw growth and alignment issues
✅ Problems with emerging permanent teeth

And here’s what parents should know: Most 7-year-olds don’t need braces!

At Behl Orthodontics, our goal is to identify concerns early, guide healthy development when needed, and recommend treatment only when the timing is right.

✨ A healthy smile starts with the right guidance.

50 Years of Teaching. Countless Lives Inspired. A Legacy That Endures. 🎓

This weekend, I had the privilege of returning to my alma mater, Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, to celebrate an extraordinary milestone — Dr. Michael Blau’s 50 years of teaching.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the institution that played such a defining role in my professional journey and to honor an educator whose dedication to teaching has helped shape generations of dental professionals.

Boston University holds a very special place in my heart. From my doctoral studies in Oral Biology to my specialty training in Orthodontics, BU helped build the foundation for the clinician, educator, and leader I have become.

As my career has evolved from practicing orthodontics to building and leading Behl Orthodontics and ICON Smile Studios, the lessons of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, mentorship, and lifelong learning have remained with me.

Dr. Blau’s remarkable 50-year commitment reminds us that the true legacy of an educator is measured not simply in years of service, but in the generations of professionals they inspire.

Congratulations, Dr. Blau, on this extraordinary achievement!

Proud to be a Boston University alumnus. Forever grateful for the mentors, friendships, and opportunities that shaped my journey.
