Dr. Anderson has been a Clinical Director with the Special Olympics Special Smiles program for many years, and recently volunteered at the State Spring Games with Dr. Webb, Alycia and her daughter Elin. These events are always special as a number of Dr. Anderson’s colleagues from the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority regularly serve alongside her.
Special Olympics allows us the opportunity to promote oral health, support incredible athletes, and celebrate the power of inclusion.
Dentistry is one of the most critical unmet health needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), where nearly half of individuals live with untreated tooth decay. Special Smiles allows us to advocate for increased access to care, and reminds us that dentistry is about so much more than teeth- it’s about helping people feel healthy, confident, and valued. 🦷✨
