When you’re a notorious thumb sucker, but your mommy is a pediatric dentist!

My daughter sucked her thumb day and night, and all of our less invasive options weren’t working. Honestly, she is one of the most severe thumb suckers in my entire practice. We tried Mavala Stop ❌ Control It ❌ and a T-Guard ❌

My daughter was too persistent, and her bite was deepening by the minute. I decided to try a thumb rake appliance for her. She eats and speaks normally. It’s also simple to clean with an electric toothbrush. The thumb sucking stopped, and she loves her pretty “braces!” We will keep it in her mouth until summertime, to make sure she doesn’t regress back into her habit. So glam! It’s all about the reframe.✨💁🏻‍♀️🤩

And yes, we got her ice cream afterward.

Our patient has a condition called microdontia, or “peg laterals.” That means her teeth developed smaller and with a cone-like shape. After braces, Dr. Duran placed composite to improve the esthetics of her already beautiful and healthy smile. Both mom and patient were thrilled with her new teeth! #815
