I am finally gaining confidence with simple orthodontic treatments with Invisalign. In dental school, the orthodontic department was like the CIA, mysterious and isolated. I had a short "orthodontic bootcamp” that I frankly learned nothing from.

As a new dentist, I was far from comfortable with orthodontic treatment. The Invisalign “certification” CE that the Invisalign offers is BS. If you think you know ortho after that certification course, you are in a world of trouble.

Currently, I am choosing my patients and cases wisely, staying away from trouble. I continue to learn and expand my orthodontic horizons. As new dentists, I recommend starting out with CE courses by dentists like , / , and . My last Invisalign CE was with through an official online CE and that was fabulous.

I love learning from general dentists, but I believe it is really important to learn from specialists. So I recommend you listen to a variety of dentists to gather the knowledge to develop your skills. Cheers to growth!

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve your dream. Hard work and grit trumps doubting trolls 😈. Doubters come in all forms, sometimes they can be family or friends. You can do it.

🍁 Catch me in Canada this weekend Canada 🇨🇦
Traveling has always been the best way to relieve stress and pressure from work. I am de- pressurizing from the worldy expectations and anxiety that we live in.

Grateful for this.

Time Speed Rate
When you are…
In your 10’s time travels at 10mph
In your 20’s… 20 mph
In your 30’s… 30 mph
And so on…
As I get older I realize how precious time is. Take a breather and treasure & spend your time wisely.

Dear kids, I know the 3 years of studying in high school feels like eternity but it is the best investment of your life. Tis is the key to success. - said a wise Andrew Choi

If you are afraid to fail, read this:
It is never too late.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe that success is the product of two things:
1. My effort
2. God's plan
So this means failure happens due to two reasons:
1. Lack of personal effort
2. It was not in God's plan
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I was not successful, then I must also learn to accept failure. Yes, easier said than done.
However, m experience has taught me to believe that most things in life can be achieved with real 200% effort.
Have I put really put in all the effort that is humanly possible?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At age 25, I realized that most of my 10's and early 20's had been spent in the wrong places, wasted. Like a lot of 25-year-olds, I thought I was too old to change, I often thought it was "too late". Boy was I wrong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I spent the next decade catching up to where I wanted to go. I literally buckled up, grit through school in a foreign third-world country, and came back to the US to attend the International Dental Program.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There was a lot of uncertainty and fear of failure, but what got me through the difficulties was faith and understanding that I can only control one thing: my effort.
Sometimes you have to just go for it and put in your maximum ! until death ! effort.

This is a photo of me getting out of my comfort zone, scuba diving, which turned out to be life changing.

Mistake I made in my 20’s
When I was in my teens and early 20’s I was even more immature than I am today 😮. But I got lucky because my parents were wise and decided to drastically change my environment that was full of negative temptations.

At age 25 I went to the Philippines for dental school, this one choice changed my life. While I was there I was so FOMO of all my friends in the US partying hard and enjoying life. But now that I look back it was one of the best choices in my life.
Mistakes I made in my 20’s that you should avoid:

1. Work hard in your 10’s and 20’s, most likely having money in your 30’s is way better than having money in your 20’s then being broke in your 30’s. You will have way more fun.

2. We often spend our 20’s for the “fun”. Go smoke one, or happy hours, go chase that girl/boy, go clubbing, and you wake up: you are in your 30’s with nothing to show for it.

3. Make friends with those people who want the best for you, who will demand the best from you.

4. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is today. I find this to be the most difficult in today’s society with social media.

5. Consistency beats everything.

6. Learn to communicate, speak and write proficiently and intelligently.

7. Be humble.
What will I tell my 30’s self in my 40’s?

Happy Father’s Day

Dear Dad,
Thank you pops for all the sacrifice, the blood, sweat, and tears for the last 3x+ years. Most importantly, thank you for never giving up on the trouble maker through the worst of times. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and the continued guidance through my life and now through dentistry.
I am the first to admit that it is not easy to show you love. I hope you know that you are my biggest hero. There is no other man in this world that I respect more than you.

❤️ Love you pops.
