Composite fillings vs. amalgam- here's the difference that actually matters to you. Composite fillings match the color of your tooth, they're mercury-free, and they bond directly to your tooth structure. They're also more expensive and require a bit more care during placement.

Amalgam is tougher and lasts longer in some situations, but it's visible and contains mercury (which is safe, but some patients prefer to avoid it).

We use both, depending on what's best for your tooth and your preferences.
