Here’s something many parents don’t realize: kids can clench or grind their teeth during times of focus, whether gaming, doing homework, or experiencing stress. You might notice jaw soreness, headaches, sensitive teeth, or hear grinding/squeaking at night.

Occasional clenching is common, but persistent grinding can wear teeth and strain the jaw. If you’ve noticed these signs, it’s worth bringing up at your child’s next visit. We can evaluate what’s going on and recommend simple, age-appropriate solutions if needed.

Sports are great for confidence, teamwork, and energy. But they’re also one of the biggest causes of dental injuries in kids and teens. A properly fitted mouthguard can help protect teeth, lips, and jaws during practices and games.

Custom mouthguards are more comfortable, easier to breathe with, and more likely to be worn consistently than bulky store-bought versions. If your child plays contact or high-impact sports, this is one small step that can make a huge difference in protecting their smile.

After-school routines are busy, and sometimes snacks + screens happen at the same time. The key isn’t perfection, it’s awareness.

Frequent sipping or snacking over long periods can keep teeth exposed to sugar and acid longer than parents realize.

A simple habit shift can make a big difference: encourage snack breaks instead of all-afternoon grazing, and offer water afterward. Small routines add up, and we’re always here to help families find realistic strategies that work in real life.

Sometimes the best medicine is a good laugh... and on International Joke Day, we're prescribing plenty of smiles!

Here's one of our favorites:
A mom told her daughter, "The dentist is just going to count your teeth." Her daughter looked suspiciously at the dentist and whispered, "Make sure you put them all back."

We hear funny comments like this all the time, and they never fail to make our team smile. Kids have a way of making every visit a little brighter, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

One of the most common questions kids ask is: “Do all my teeth have to fall out?” The answer is yes! Baby teeth are special because they hold space for the adult teeth that are waiting underneath. As those grown-up teeth get ready to come in, baby teeth slowly become loose until they’re ready to fall out—usually with very little discomfort.

Losing teeth is a normal part of growing up, and every child goes through it. That gap-toothed grin may look a little different for a while, but it’s all part of the journey to a healthy, confident adult smile. We love celebrating every wiggle, wobble, and other toothy milestones with our patients!
