DID YOU KNOW...The Pennsylvania Dutch were immigrants from Germany who had a tradition of marking February 2 as "Badger Day." If a badger emerged from its den and saw its shadow, it meant four more weeks of winter.

The Pennsylvania Dutch maintained the same tradition as the Germans except that winter's spell would be prolonged for six weeks instead of four. For the Pennsylvania Dutch, the badger became the groundhog since the groundhog lives in Pennsylvania.

Our Food Drive is Going Strong, thank you to everyone who has brought food in for SHIM and the Washington County Food Bank. So far we've received over 500 non-perishable food items. We will collect food until the end of December.

Remember you get a bonus buck for each item and Dr. Cartwright matches with a $1 donation for each item.
