Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority (ACPHLA) hosted a reception bringing together board members and partners to reflect on leadership and community progress.
The event also marked an important transition as ACPHLA management moves from The Advance Albany County Alliance to Albany County. Chairwoman Alison Walsh, former Vice Chair John Nigro, former Chair Nick Mazza and new ACPHLA CEO Mike Lalli presented former ACPHLA CEO Kevin O’Connor with a token of appreciation for his service commitment, leadership, and contributions to the board since its inception.
We appreciate everyone who attended and helped recognize this milestone in the organization’s continued evolution.

A strategic redevelopment: we are reviewing proposals to reimagine the former McDonald’s at 106 South Pearl Street as a modern regional bus terminal and intermodal city transit hub.

Offering options to board regional carriers and local transit options, a long-overdue bus terminal will enhance mobility, upgrade amenities, offer options for convenience retail and most importantly, account for a dedicated law enforcement presence to improve passenger experience and safety.

The transit hub is identified in the report from Governor Kathy Hochul, Empire State Development and MIG as a priority for the $200 million Championing Albany’s Potential initiative, and we're excited to work towards what's next for this critical entry point to Albany County!

We get things done 💪Look back on our great 2025 kickoff to the demolition of the Central Warehouse!

And now, we look ahead: when the ongoing removal of asbestos at Central Warehouse is complete, the next step you'll see will be installation of a large scaffolding system installed above the railroad to support massive excavators, which will dismantle the building in sections from the roof-down. While slower, this method ensures there is no chance of debris falling on the railroad tracks and we are able to honor our commitment to public safety while bringing this eyesore to the ground.

Higher education 🤝 Higher purpose

The Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority is proud to finalize the sale of Centennial Hall to the University at Albany for $12 million, continuing the revitalization at the former College of Saint Rose campus. With 225 rooms and 93,000 square feet of living and activity space, Centennial Hall is purpose-built for student life — and we're happy to bring those students back to reinvigorate the livelihood of Albany's Pine Hills neighborhood.

This sale is aligned with the Albany County Pine Hills Authority "Reimagine Saint Rose Playbook" developed in partnership with CPL, Cresa, River Street Planning & Development and EDR - A Better Environment.
