This year, we have a simple challenge for the whole family:

Playground falls, sports, bikes, scooters… dental accidents can happen in seconds. 🦷💙

If your child bumps, chips, loosens, or knocks out a tooth, the first thing to do is stay calm and take a quick look. Gently rinse their mouth with water, use a cold compress if there’s swelling, and call your pediatric dentist for guidance.

There’s one important difference parents should remember:

🦷 Knocked-out permanent tooth: Handle it only by the crown (the part you normally see), never the root. If it’s dirty, gently rinse it without scrubbing. If possible, place it back into the socket, or keep it moist in milk, and seek dental care immediately.

👶 Knocked-out baby tooth: Don’t put it back into the socket. Give us a call so we can evaluate the area and make sure the developing permanent tooth is protected.

Even when an injury doesn’t look serious, it’s a good idea to let us know what happened so we can help determine the appropriate next step.
