Why Oral Cancer Screenings Are Important
Adults over 65 are at higher risk for oral cancer. Screenings are quick and painless.
During a routine dental exam, we check:
• Tongue
• Gums
• Cheeks
• Throat tissues
Early detection significantly improves outcomes.
Regular exams include this screening automatically.

Why Oral Health Affects Overall Health
🦷 Oral health is connected to overall health.
In seniors, untreated dental issues can contribute to:

• Difficulty eating
• Weight loss

The mouth is not separate from the body.
If it’s been a while since your loved one’s last dental exam, you’re welcome to schedule a visit with us. We’re here to make the process simple, Book an appointment at https://www.blessedsmilesmidsouth.com/

This patient experienced a stroke, which has made daily oral hygiene more challenging for him and his caregivers. His dexterity and coordination are affected. Plaque, food debris and bacteria has accumulated on the tongue and teeth.

During our visit, we provided a gentle cleaning and showed the caregiver simple ways to keep his mouth healthy every day.

Why does this matter?

- The tongue harbors a significant amount of oral bacteria
- Bacteria buildup contributes to bad breath
- Debris on the tongue can dull taste sensation
- Poor oral hygiene increases risk for systemic complications

With the right support, oral care is still possible — and life can feel better.

At Blessed Smiles Mobile Dental, we bring care directly to you with compassion, dignity, and education.
