During her initial consultation, we discussed multiple treatment options tailored to her goals, lifestyle, and health.
Option 1: Full braces with jaw surgery – the “ideal” plan for complete open bite correction
Option 2: Invisalign treatment without surgery, aimed for improvement, but not necessarily correcting the open bite.

Our patient EG came to us with:
🔹Overbite 100% deep
🔹Spacing in the upper arch
🔹Congenitally missing lower left second premolar
🔹Upper front teeth tipped inward

We started EG’s treatment with Pitts 21 brackets right away. Because of the missing lower premolar, EG and his family had two options— keep the space open for an implant in the future, or use a Temporary Anchorage Device (TAD) to move the back molars more forward and close the space.

We decided on the latter, and a few months after bonding braces, we put a TAD in the premolar space, and used special ties throughout his treatment to move his molars forward and close the space! After about 9 months with the TAD, we removed it and finished his alignment with a Closing-Loop lower arch wire to completely close the space and elastics to finalize his bite.

We finished with this awesome result, which is as aesthetic as it is functional.

Our patient SH came to us with:
🔹Single tooth crossbite on both upper lateral incisors
🔹Posterior crossbite on the lower premolars
🔹Slight upper jaw protrusion and flared incisors
🔹Mouth breathing

We started SH’s treatment with a Rapid Palatal Expander (RPE) to expand his upper jaw and alleviate the crossbite, as well as open his airway to resolve his mouth breathing. Once enough expansion was reached, we bonded Pitts 21 brackets. We fully corrected his bite, aligned all his teeth, and finished with this healthy and aesthetic result after 18 months in braces.

Our patient RW came to us with:
🔹Narrow upper and lower arches, moderate crowding
🔹Overbite 90% deep and upper jaw protrusion of 4mm
🔹 Clenching and grinding teeth at night

Patient RW came to us at the perfect time! We started her phase I treatment with a Rapid Palatal Expander to broaden both arches and to expand the airway. Symptoms of airway problems in children include clenching, grinding, and snoring- orthodontic treatment with an expander may help that! Especially when combined with the removal of enlarged tonsils and adenoids.  When we reached enough expansion, we bonded braces on the upper front teeth to start moving them into alignment.

We monitored RW’s growth, then started Phase II by bonding Pitts 21 brackets to all the teeth. Pitts technique, in combination with rubber bands, gave us this beautiful and healthy end result.
