Esthetic case! Patient presented with worn front teeth, Emax LiDs all ceramic crowns treatment planned. Patient also had partial cast metal dentures, had to be mindful of that when sending to lab. Composite filling used to build up #9, just normal packable light cured material.

#7 prep not finished, took care of facial composite at margins after pictures, as well as overall refinement of margins before impressions.
I need to improve my dental photography clearly as well. (Except for the nice pics, those are all thanks to my classmate Don Kim)

FULL MOUTH rehab! After nearly two dozen appointments, this case is finally done. Patient presents with rampant caries and several extractions needed.

Treatment planning done by my D4 Derrick P. , and then the decision was made for full upper ext and lower ext except for 22-29 in order to avoid a lower complete denture. Surgery crowns and composite build ups of lower incisors also planned (yes questionable prognosis but since it’s opposing an upper CD and they’re taken out of occlusion)

Patient was handed to me with immediate dentures that no longer fit and a lower treatment partial that was adequate.

Started with upper complete denture, adjusting the lower temporary denture, survey crowns 22/27/28/29, then composite build ups 23/24/25/26, and finished with lower cast metal RPD (partial denture)

I learned a lot in this case and there are a lot of things I could improve on like gingival acrylic shade matching, better esthetic composite contours, and more. But over the past 10 months I’m happy how I’ve grown as a practitioner.

And of course couldn’t have done any of this without the guidance of Dr.Parikh, former UCLA Advanced Prosth resident and current Prosth faculty here at UCLA. .parikh

Extraction #28 and #30 with 4 unit bridge, cantilever on the distal. Patient presented with abscess on #28 and decay with poor crown:root ratio. Given that she was undergoing chemo, she elected to extract. Followed up with copious irrigation and 4-0 chromic gut sutures figure 8 to maintain clot.

Wow extractions are actually fun now 🤯🦷💉

Oral surgery rotation was cool to say the least 😎. Did an extraction of a tough root tip, learned a lot about protecting adjacent teeth and minimizing trauma. Couldn’t have done it without the attending faculty.
Look closely and you can see the Endodontic infection at the root tip coming out as well! (Periapical cyst)🤯

Before/After, patient presents with Lateral Incisor #10 with recurrent decay along margins of mesial Class III composite. Rubber Damn Isolation, OptiBond, A3 enamel shade and A3.5 Dentin shade. Extended to MIFL surfaces due to extensive decay.

Clearly my photography skills need work, gotta get better at manual focus, order a ring flash, and more.

Note: Teeth seem discolored after prepping/filling since they dehydrate and seem lighter after isolation. Happy with the overall case as it’s one of my first esthetic cases yet.

Maryland Bridge on lower front tooth!—— Patient presented with a 7 year old failing improvised fiber reinforced composite bridge to replace #24 lost due to periodontitis initially. Old composite temp removed (see last pic and calculus build up), impression taken and Essex style temporary space maintainer was delivered (see plastic mouth guard like piece), patient returned for final cementation with tin plated intaglio of the metal retainer #23, tooth primer from Panavia MDP universal applied, final restoration success! Hopefully I can get my hands on more fun cases like this! 🦷🧩

Our lab’s research has finally been published! It’s been a great couple years doing work in the Min Lee Lab within the Advanced Prosthodontics department and Section for Biomaterials. Glad that I could contribute my research into such a large paper. Attached are pictures of how our novel gene therapy delivery system coupled with a hydrogel scaffold can drastically improve bone healing!🦷🦠🧬🔬 🦴
