My passion for dentistry started when I was a Dental Assistant at 16 years old. I often say, dentistry saved my life, because it became the door that opened when all others closed in on me after leaving my home sophomore year of high school after dropping out
Dentistry appealed to me because it's a big puzzle 🧩 each patient has unique social, medical, & dental histories, & I love getting to know & grow with each little patient & their family.
I'm not just a Doctor & of Dental Surgery 🩸 but also an Engineer 👷🏽♀️ that monitors growth & development & can help make major changes using interceptive Orthodontics if a child has craniofacialairway issue.
I am a Nutritionist 🍎 that coaches families on the frequency & types of foods & drinks they consume & helps provide guidance to help improve hopefully not only my patient’s, but also their family’s dental & overall health.
I am a Teacher 👩🏽🏫 who educates & empowers my patients & their families to become more knowledgeable & take ownership of their oral & overall systemic health.
I am an Investigator 🕵🏽♀️ who combines my findings from Motivational Interviews with patients (who are so good at telling the truth 😂) & their families, & my clinical findings to provide the best individualized treatment for each patient.
I am a Scientist 👩🏽🔬 who loves reading & providing to research (ya girl is published!) & learning about new techniques available to provide the best current Dental Treatment options for my patients.
I am a Therapist 🫂 who listens, hugs, & empathizes with families & helps them talk out their struggles & coach them on not being so hard on themselves, but instead growing from the challenges they are facing (it's not all about teeth!).
I am so thankful I found Dentistry early on, I truly think this career saved my life in so many ways.
How would you describe your career?
