On Saturday, October 10, 2026, a special distribution programme was organised at Washala under the Kasara Primary Health Centre in Shahapur Taluka. During the programme, 75 pregnant women from Washala, Veluk, Patol, Susarwadi, Telampada, Dhakne, Kothala, Kalbhonda, Fugala, and neighbouring villages received dry fruit packets from the distinguished guests.
The programme was attended by several prominent medical professionals and social workers, including:
* Dr. Madhav Waghmare, President of Gramin Vibhag Medical Seva Sanstha.
* Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan, renowned ophthalmic researcher, Doctor of Optometry, author, and thinker, as Chief Guest.
* Mr. Ashokrao Kardak, Police Patil and member of the organisation.
* Dr. Dattatray Dharane, Gynaecologist.
* Dr. Hemant Katkar, Paediatrician.
* Mr. Prathamesh, representative of Pratiksha Jhaver Foundation.
Free Eye Examinations and Distribution of 27 Spectacles by Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan
A major highlight of the programme was the participation of Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan, Founder of Shekhar Eye Research, Thane, who attended as Chief Guest.
Dr. Chawan appreciated the organisation’s dedicated efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare in underserved tribal communities. Recognising the importance of accessible vision care, he conducted free eye examinations for women and children attending the programme and distributed 27 pairs of spectacles free of cost.
His contribution added an important dimension to the initiative by addressing visual health needs alongside maternal nutrition and general medical care.
Special Medical Screening for Malnourished Children
As part of the organisation’s efforts to prevent malnutrition and reduce child mortality, paediatrician Dr. Hemant Katkar examined 15 young children for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and provided appropriate medical treatment.
