Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed into law a bill clarifying that dental insurance companies may not set fees for services they do not cover.

So imagine you’re a builder and your lumber supplier sets the fees for - not only what he supplies - but also the price your client (home buyer) pays you for their lovely new home.

The lumber supplier doesn’t know your other fees or your labor costs. And he’s trying to tell the customer that knows and trusts you (the builder) they are being ripped off.

Thats dental insurance in Oklahoma. Not the case in other states. But sadly true in Oklahoma.

There is an insurance company in Oklahoma that has more than a majority of the dental insurance in Oklahoma. And they are fighting fair market practices that are denied to the small businesses we own and operate.

Oh - and they hide behind a Non-profit designation. Go follow the money. They fund a foundation with roughly 3% of their profits. Because the foundation is non profit records are public record. Insurance companies make money by collecting your premiums and refusing to pay (deny) payment - and hoping their customers don’t go to the dentist at all. Go find the foundation of the largest dental insurance company in Oklahoma and see their last federal filing. Do the math (remember the foundation gets a very small percentage of their “profits”) and you’ll see what kind of money they collect from our patients and the bolster their “profits” by denying payment. (One more hint - the foundation’s logo is green and it pays for those fancy marketing banners racing around the Thunder arena).

Call your law makers and deny the bully on the playground their unfair tactics. Ask for a YES on HB 4329 and SB 1942!!
