Absolute Dental was chosen in 2020 to be the exclusive dental operations provider inside the Cano Health medical practices as they expand into the Western US with Humana. They expect to open 6 practices in 2021 in Nevada with 4 offering dental, of which we will support. With this partnership we will have added 8 additional practices to provide more access to care for our patients.

2nd Annual Absolute Dental Doctor Summit offered 35 of our doctors 12 hours of continuing education on implants and the future of digital dentistry. This was followed by a day full of fun with Dream Racing and reception at Mr Chow Restaurant. Thank you to all that attended!

In my recent travels to Reno I learned that one of our own is very sick. Aliyah is the daughter of Genny Magtoto, our beloved dental assistant at our Reno 1 practice.
"My daughter Aliyah is 14 years old. She was diagnosed with Lupus 3 years ago. There are many types of lupus and Aliyah’s is the one that mostly attacks her organs. The first specialist put her on a medication that cause nephrotic syndrome of the kidneys and her liver was struggling to function. When the new doctor found the organ failure he sent her immediately to start infusions to help her liver and kidneys start working properly over the course of 3 months. After infusions we ran more tests and her liver was great but kidneys needed more help. He put her on oral chemo meds to help with the lupus and the protein levels in her kidneys. She takes the medication 2 times per day and this seems to be working for her. She also has plenty of other meds to offset side effect of the chemo and then more for lupus and high blood pressure. On August 1st she was admitted to Renown hospital due to fever, full body pain, and her white blood cell count was a dangerous 2.0. She had serious signs of an infection. Over the course of a 10 day stay she was diagnosed with sepsis, CMV and EBV. She was immediately put onto viral antibiotics. She was in isolation and was under treatment of the infectious disease doctor. They did a bone marrow biopsy and the results could be macro phage activation syndrome and leukemia. She finally got rid of the fever, was able to walk again and was released on August 10th. We still need the results from the bone marrow and will go from there after the results. We had many people reach out and help and asking if we needed anything. Absolute dental Reno 1 was amazing in allowing me to be with my daughter almost every minute she was in the hospital."

The work we are doing for the pediatric cancer foundations is not in vain. The Magtoto family is just one of hundreds of Nevada families that are suffering. Aliyah’s three year old brother Mateo is also affected, not understanding what is happening but worried about his sister. He showers her with kisses daily.
The Magtoto family is also suffering financially. She was just released following 10 days in the intensive care unit and one of her regular medications is over $1000. She is ineligable for a kidney transplant until she is 16 and with the fear of a possible leukemia diagnosis, it is difficult to imagine where they money will come from according to Genny.

We are adopting the Magtoto family and we will let you all know how we can help them.
