Yesterday, Dr. Chambers, Dr. Hallinan, Clinic Manager Amber, and Surgical Assistants Cleopatra and Gaige visited the dental assisting students at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center to share a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of an oral surgery assistant. Our team introduced them to the instruments used in oral surgery, discussed common oral surgery procedures, and presented real patient cases completed by our doctors.

🎉 Congratulations to several of our surgical assistant team members who recently earned or renewed their DAANCE certification!

The Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE), administered by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, is a rigorous continuing education program that strengthens knowledge and skills in anesthesia assisting, emergency management, anatomy, pharmacology, and patient safety. Their specialized training helps our oral and maxillofacial surgeons provide anesthesia and surgical care with a knowledgeable team by their side.

Last week, our Susquehanna Valley Study Club directors Drs. Chambers and Hallinan, along with club coordinator Allison, traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Seattle Study Club's Director/Coordinator Summit.

The Summit brought together directors and coordinators from study clubs across the country, including some that have been running for over 20 years. Through peer discussions, workshops, and idea-sharing, our team gained insights into curriculum planning, meeting logistics, and creating meaningful experiences for our members. The meeting was fittingly held at Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby.

We are excited to bring what we learned back to our study club and continue making each semester better than the last!

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Sarah! 🌟

Originally from California, Sarah has been part of the Conestoga Oral Surgery team for more than two years, and we’re so glad she’s here! Sarah feels most rewarded at work when she sees a smile or confidence in patients who were nervous about even walking through our doors. Known for her delightful singing, she’ll "Saranade” you through a procedure if you ask. She has a knack for easing dental anxiety with her corny dad jokes; her favorite: “How does the hamburger introduce his girlfriend?” … “Meat Patty!” 😂🍔

Outside the office, Sarah is a lifelong tennis enthusiast, enjoys experimenting with new recipes to share with friends and family, and loves completing paint-by-number canvases. At home, she collects unique coffee mugs, including those gathered during her travels. She loves Halloween, so her favorite holiday is right around the corner! 🎃 Sarah runs on energy drinks and enjoys her favorite home-cooked meal: corned beef and cabbage! A Cali-girl at heart, she jumps at any chance to visit her hometown, Tehachapi.

Recently, we celebrated Sarah’s achievement of passing the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Exam (DAANCE), administered by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, joining the ranks of our clinical staff who have passed.
