This case report presents an interdisciplinary surgical and prosthodontic method for treating recurrent nasopharyngeal stenosis in a 32-year-old male using a custom-made acrylic resin dilator for home application. The appliance was adapted from a previously successful esophageal dilator and adjusted chairside to achieve a comfortable fit. The patient used the device twice daily to maintain patency of the opening.

It is a rare acquired lesion, usually the result of trauma or surgery often leading to significant impairment of nasal breathing This clinical report describes the treatment of a patient with nasopharyngeal stenosis with a conformer prosthesis.

An separates the from the nasal structures, but the bulb design itself is based on prosthetic and oral functional parameters. This study from The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry uses sophisticated computational models that mimic nasal airflow in simulations of patients with maxillary defects and different obturator bulb designs. Temperature and relative humidity in the nasal cavity were compared to understand how defects and prosthetic design impact the nasal airway.
