A strong smile begins with a strong foundation.

After a tooth is lost, the surrounding jawbone may gradually change because it is no longer being stimulated by the tooth root. Adequate bone is also important for securely supporting a dental implant.

When additional support is needed, bone grafting may help preserve or rebuild the area before implant placement. Treatment recommendations are based on each patient’s anatomy, oral health and long-term goals.

Call 336-621-1554 to schedule a consultation and learn which options may be appropriate for you.

Has your dentist or orthodontist recommended a wisdom-teeth evaluation?

Fall is a good time to begin planning, especially if you hope to schedule treatment around Thanksgiving, winter break or another upcoming school break. An evaluation allows our oral surgeons to examine the position and development of the wisdom teeth and discuss whether removal is recommended.

Holiday appointment times can fill quickly. Call 336-621-1554 to schedule an evaluation with Dr. Rehm or Dr. Riggs.

October is National Dental Hygiene Month — a good reminder that protecting your smile includes caring for your gums, natural teeth and dental implants.

Daily brushing, cleaning between the teeth and regular dental checkups can help protect the foundation of your smile. If you already have a dental implant, good oral hygiene is especially important for supporting its long-term health.

Considering a dental implant? Call Greensboro Oral, Implant & Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center at 336-621-1554 to schedule a consultation.

You may have heard a dentist or orthodontist describe a wisdom tooth as “impacted”—but what does that mean?

An impacted wisdom tooth does not have enough space to emerge or develop normally. It may remain partially or completely beneath the gums, grow at an angle or press toward a neighboring tooth.

Impacted wisdom teeth can be difficult to clean and may contribute to infection, damage to an adjacent tooth or other complications. Because they do not always cause immediate symptoms, an examination and X-rays are important for determining whether treatment is recommended.

Call 336-621-1554 to schedule a wisdom-teeth evaluation with Dr. Rehm or Dr. Riggs.

A little Greensboro hockey history hangs right here in our practice. 🏒

When the Carolina Hurricanes called Greensboro home from 1997–1999, Greensboro Oral, Implant & Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center was proud to serve as the team’s official oral surgery provider.

Now, the Canes are returning to Greensboro for the first time since 1999—and these jerseys displayed here at our office are bringing back some great memories!

We’re excited to welcome the Hurricanes back to the Gate City as they face the Nashville Predators on Thursday, September 24, at First Horizon Coliseum.

Welcome back, Canes! ❤️🖤

A Strong Smile Starts With a Strong Foundation

Dental implants need a strong foundation—and sometimes the jawbone needs additional support before an implant can be placed.

Bone loss may occur following tooth loss, gum disease, infection or injury. Depending on the location and amount of available bone, a bone-grafting procedure may be recommended to preserve or rebuild part of the jaw.

Several grafting techniques are available, and the appropriate approach depends on your anatomy and treatment goals. Detailed imaging helps your oral surgeon evaluate the area and create a personalized plan.

To learn more about bone grafting and dental implants, call 336-621-1554.

Loose or shifting dentures can make eating, speaking and smiling more difficult than they need to be.

An implant-supported denture attaches to dental implants placed in the jaw, providing greater stability than a traditional removable denture. Depending on your needs, this treatment may help reduce movement and provide more confidence during everyday activities.

Treatment is personalized based on your oral health, available bone and the number and condition of your remaining teeth.

Wondering whether implant-supported dentures may be an option for you? Call Greensboro Oral, Implant & Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center at 336-621-1554 to schedule a consultation.

A Tar Heel win made even better with great company! 🐏💙

Dr. Rehm (second from left) recently enjoyed a UNC football game from the Chancellor’s Box alongside longtime friends and colleagues Dr. Ricardo Padilla (left), an oral pathologist; Dr. Chung (third from left), a radiologist at Wake Forest University; and Dr. Shimabukuro (right), a Chicago-based economist.

The Carolina connection goes way back — Dr. Rehm, Dr. Chung and Dr. Shimabukuro attended UNC together! 🩵

Nothing better than old friends, great company and a Tar Heel win! 🏈🐏
