She graduated in 1995 with Honors from the King George Medical and Dental College and went on to obtain her Master’s degree from the same in 1999. Dr. Shivani Gupta is also a dentist at our practice and has a decade of experience in practicing dentistry, of which five years have been in California. Told Your Dental Implant Case Is Too Complicated?

Hearing that you have too much bone loss, a failed dental implant, or a dental situation that is “too complex” can be discouraging. But a difficult case does not always mean you are out of options.

At Center for Implant Dentistry, we focus on dental implant care, including patients with more challenging situations.

I want to talk about what it's like to be the person sitting in that chair, because the clinical part gets explained well and the other part doesn't.

I came in for full mouth implants at fifty-six after years of losing teeth one at a time and pretending it wasn't a pattern. I'd stopped smiling in photos around 2019. I'd stopped eating in front of people around 2021.

The first thing Dr. Jain did was not look in my mouth. He asked me how long it had been going on and then he let me finish the answer. I'd had appointments where I felt like a case. That was not that.

Dr. Gupta handled a different part of my treatment and I want to name her too, because between the two of them I never once had to re-explain my own history. They'd already talked. That sounds small. When you're going through something this big it is not small.

I have a full set of teeth again. I ate a sandwich at a work lunch last month without thinking about it once.

I put this off for three years. Three. Every time I looked up what implants cost I closed the tab and told myself next year.

What I didn't count on was what happened while I waited. The bone shrinks. Nobody tells you that part. By the time I finally walked into Dr. Jain's office I needed a graft first, which was extra money I wouldn't have spent if I'd just come in when the tooth first came out.

So when people ask me if it was worth it, my honest answer is that it would have been cheaper if I'd been braver sooner.

They gave me the full number up front. No surprise line items later. I did it over 28 months on a payment plan and I stopped thinking about it around month four.

Eating a sandwich without planning which side to chew on. That's what I bought.

Zirconia isn't a dental shortcut. It's the same class of ceramic used in orthopedic implants — chosen there for the same reason we choose it here: it takes load without fatiguing.

A full arch made from it is milled from a single solid block. No seams. No individual teeth bonded to a framework. Nothing to chip off, because there's nothing separately attached in the first place.

That's the difference between a restoration you maintain and one you live with.
