Michael hadn't been to the dentist in 5 years. 😱
When the pain became unbearable, he reached out to us he had seen positive reviews on Google Maps and we were close to his home.

👨‍⚕️ At the consultation, it turned out that decay had destroyed one tooth and had started spreading to the other healthy teeth. When we asked why he had waited so long, he answered honestly: "I was scared. I don't want to feel pain, hear the sounds of the equipment and sometimes the instruments make me gag." 😖

So he avoided it. One year became two. Two became five. And while he waited, some teeth had reached the point of no return and needed to be extracted immediately, while others could still be saved with a cleaning and filling.

☝️ In our practice, we encounter fear all the time. It has power over us and over the outcome. That's why we offer our patients nitrous oxide. And that's exactly what we offered Mike.

Under the laughing gas, he felt at ease and even was chatty, in 1 hour, Dr. Ovcharenko completed the extraction and placed the fillings. No pain afterward. No sounds.

And what made us happiest when it was all over, Mike looked up in surprise and asked: "That's it?" 😃

It’s not just a consequence of infection, but the result of an aggressive immune response.

Unlike standard atrophy, this involves a self-destruction mechanism:
1️⃣ Infection: Bacteria in the gum pockets trigger chronic inflammation.
2️⃣ Attack Signal: The immune system releases mediators (cytokines) to destroy the threat.
3️⃣ Destruction: These substances activate osteoclasts — cells that dissolve bone tissue.

The body literally destroys the tooth's "foundation" in an attempt to distance itself from the source of infection. This process is often painless until tooth mobility occurs.

Stopping bone loss is only possible through professional elimination of the bacterial factor and inflammation control.

Timely diagnosis is the only way to maintain the stability of your teeth. 🏥✨

Fine lines around the lips and a tired lower face are not always about skin aging.

Sometimes, the face loses support because the bite height has changed or teeth have worn down.🙁

At Fairfax City Dentist, Dr. Vladyslav Ovcharenko can restore bite height and tooth position to help support the lips, improve facial balance, and create a naturally refreshed look — without fillers.👨‍⚕️

Book your consultation and find out if your bite is changing your face ☝️

One of the most common mistakes after root canal treatment is thinking the tooth is “done.”

In reality, a tooth without a nerve often needs more protection, not less.🦷

After the nerve is removed, the tooth can become weaker and more vulnerable to cracks, especially if it already had a large cavity or old filling.

A crown or onlay helps protect the tooth, restore chewing function, and reduce the risk of fracture.

If you had a root canal, make sure your tooth is properly protected 🧐

Root resorption is a pathological process in which the root structure 🦴 is destroyed from the inside or outside. In early stages, symptoms may be absent 🌿, so patients often remain unaware of the problem.

Over time, resorption leads to tooth instability ⚠️ and risk of tooth loss. Regular check‑ups 🦷 are essential to detect changes early and prevent complications.

At Fairfax City Dentist, we use modern diagnostic methods to monitor root health and preserve teeth.

Implants are not “maintenance‑free” forever. Poor hygiene 🪥 or lack of regular check‑ups 🦷 may cause peri‑implantitis. This complication involves bone loss and implant instability.

Main risks:
⚠️ bone loss
⚠️ implant instability
⚠️ need for retreatment

Preventive check‑ups are the key to early diagnosis and preservation of implant outcomes.
