🦴 Bone grafting is the foundation for long-lasting dental implants.

Bone grafting replaces bone loss in your jaw and prepares it for implants — through sinus or ridge augmentations that stimulate the bone growth needed to reshape your jaw. Depending on your case, we may use freeze-dried cadaver bone, bovine bone, synthetic bone, or your own bone (autogenous graft).

Autogenous grafts require two surgical sites — one to harvest the bone and one to place it.

If your third molars are fully grown, functional, painless and disease-free, they can stay — as long as you keep them clean and come in for regular check-ups and x-rays.

However, impacted wisdom teeth can damage neighboring teeth and cause infections. We recommend removal when there's infection, gum disease, cavities that can't be restored, cysts or tumors, or damage to adjacent teeth.

💊 Proper pain management helps you heal comfortably after surgery.

Here's a simple guide:

• Mild pain: Three 200mg ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) every 6 hours, or two 325mg acetaminophen (Tylenol) every 6 hours.
• Moderate pain: Alternate three 200mg ibuprofen and two 325mg acetaminophen every 3 hours.
• Severe pain: Use your prescribed narcotic and continue three ibuprofen every 6 hours.

Do not exceed 3,200mg of ibuprofen or 3,000mg of acetaminophen in 24 hours. Start your first dose before the anesthetic wears off, and avoid alcohol or driving while taking narcotics.

Here’s how to support healing after jaw or facial fracture treatment:

🔒 Do not adjust or remove wires holding your mouth closed — call us if anything breaks
🪥 Brush reachable teeth 3× daily to maintain good oral hygiene
💧 Use saline drops or decongestants if you have congestion after upper jaw surgery
🥤 Stick to a blended or liquid diet (smoothies, milkshakes, pureed foods)
❄️ Use cold compresses for 48 hours, then switch to warm compresses; keep your head elevated to reduce swelling
