When’s the right time to schedule a wisdom tooth consultation for your teen? Early screening is key.

You should schedule their consultation, ideally by the age of 16 or 17, to identify potential issues, even if their wisdom teeth aren't causing symptoms yet. At Columbus Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Drs. Rekos, Border and Vergara can use digital imaging to see how wisdom teeth are forming, whether there’s enough room for them, and if they’re growing in the right direction. Spotting potential problems early helps prevent issues like crowding, damage to other teeth, cysts, or infections. Schedule your teen's wisdom teeth consultation: 614-764-9455

The jawbone requires constant stimulation from tooth roots to maintain its density and structure. When teeth are lost due to injury, disease, or extraction, this stimulation disappears, leading to bone resorption. This bone loss can make placing dental implants challenging or even impossible without additional support. That's where bone grafting at Columbus Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery comes in – a proven procedure that rebuilds and strengthens the jawbone to create the ideal foundation for successful implant placement. If you've been told you need a bone graft before dental implants, Drs. Rekos, Border and Vergara can help. Call us: 614-764-9455

The #1 question patients ask about wisdom teeth is: "Do I really need to get them removed?" Wisdom teeth are usually only removed if they cause problems or are likely to cause problems in the future. There are no scientifically proven health benefits of removing wisdom teeth that don't cause problems. However, if you don't have enough room in your mouth for wisdom teeth, or they're painful, infected, or cause other dental problems, they may need to be removed. You may also still need to have them removed, even if they aren't causing any pain. The only way to know for sure is to schedule a consultation with Drs. Rekos, Border and Vergara at Columbus Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery: 614-764-9455

If you’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis and are considering All-on-4® implants to replace missing teeth, you may be wondering whether your bone health rules you out as a candidate. The good news is that many patients with osteoporosis can still be excellent candidates for All-on-4® implants, thanks to their innovative design.

Because All-on-4® implants are strategically placed in areas of stronger bone, they can provide a stable and lasting foundation even when bone density is reduced. With advanced imaging, careful planning, and an experienced surgical team, osseointegration (the process by which the implant fuses with bone) can still be achieved successfully in many patients with mild to moderate osteoporosis. Schedule an appointment to see if you're a candidate: 614-764-9455
