Orthodontic wax can be a lifesaver when your braces are rubbing against your cheeks or lips. The trick is knowing how to use it the right way!

How to use orthodontic wax properly:

👉 Wash your hands before touching the wax
👉 Brush and floss to remove food particles first
👉 Dry the bracket or wire with a tissue
👉 Use a small pea-sized piece of wax
👉 Roll it into a soft ball
👉 Press it over the bracket or wire causing irritation
👉 Smooth it down and make sure it stays in place

❌ Avoid using too much wax, placing it over food, or leaving the same wax on for several days.

Early treatment before and after! Sometimes, the best time to begin orthodontic treatment is before all of your child’s permanent teeth have come in! 🦷✨

This patient completed Phase I orthodontic treatment with braces and a palatal expander to correct a crossbite and create additional space for developing teeth.

What’s next? We’ll continue to monitor her growth and development about every 6 months and determine whether Phase II treatment will be needed once her permanent teeth have erupted.
