It’s easy to think baby teeth aren’t that important because they’re eventually replaced by permanent teeth. But they have a big job to do first.

Baby teeth help children eat comfortably, develop clear speech, and maintain the space permanent teeth need to come in properly. They also give kids an early opportunity to build brushing and dental care habits that can last for years.

Temporary teeth still deserve plenty of care!

For children with autism or other special healthcare needs, a positive dental experience can start with a team that takes the time to understand what makes each child feel safe and supported. At Where Smiles Grow, we work with families to learn about communication preferences, sensory sensitivities, comfort items and strategies that can help make visits more successful. Our latest blog explores how an autism-friendly approach to pediatric dentistry can help children feel more comfortable, build confidence and develop healthy dental habits for years to come.

If your child takes a daily vitamin, chewable vitamins are a better choice than gummy vitamins whenever possible. Gummy vitamins can stick to teeth, increasing the risk of cavities, while chewable tablets are less likely to linger.

No matter which vitamin your child takes, it's always a good idea to brush afterward to help keep their smile healthy!
