Brushing every day but your teeth still look yellow? That doesn’t automatically mean your teeth are dirty.

Natural tooth colour is slightly yellow because enamel is thin and transparent, allowing the dentine underneath to show through. Tea, coffee, smoking, acidic drinks, ageing and certain medications such as tetracycline can also contribute to tooth staining.

The bigger priority is good oral hygiene and healthy teeth and gums not chasing an unnaturally white shade.

If you’re concerned about yellow teeth or staining, get them properly assessed before choosing any whitening treatment.
