ƁSoft tissue paradigm. Vs Conventional Cepahlometrics
What to choose and when?
This is a Classic example of such finer choice of Soft tissue over cepahlometric measurements.
A case that demonstrates how the right appliance,q appropriate biomechanics, and meticulous finishing can transform both the bite and the smile.
🔹 Initial Presentation:
• Excessive overjet 10mm
Full cusp Class II Molars
• Upper right canine in crossbite
• Moderate crowding in the lower arch
The case was managed using the Dynamax Appliance, which works by encouraging forward mandibular positioning and functional adaptation, making it particularly useful for correcting sagittal discrepancies and reducing excessive overjet in growing patients.
The post-treatment photographs shows a properly finished case with Normal overjet and overbite Class I Molar ,canine and incisor relationship with Well-aligned arches.
The initial assessment revealed a 10 mm overjet, a relatively retrognathic mandible, with an ANB of only 4°—highlighting an interesting sagittal discrepancy despite the normal ANB value. The upper right canine was in crossbite, with moderate lower arch crowding.
A reminder that cephalometric numbers might not be decisive of treatment plan. The clinical representation, mandibular morphology, growth potential, and functional correction all matter when planning a Class II case.
🦷 From a 10 mm overjet to a well-finished, settled bite — thoughtful diagnosis followed by the right appliance and precise finishing.
