The Warm Vertical Compaction Technique is an endodontic obturation method used to fill the root canal system with thermoplasticized gutta-percha for a dense, three-dimensional seal.

Steps OF WVC...
Clean and shape the root canal thoroughly.
Dry the canal using paper points.

MASTER CONE SELECTION.
Select a gutta-percha master cone that fits snugly at working length.
Verify tug-back and radiographically confirm fit if needed.

SEALER APPLICATION
Apply root canal sealer lightly on canal walls or master cone.
Placement of Master Cone
Insert the master cone to full working length.

DOWN PACK (Apical Compaction)
Use a heated plugger/spreader to soften and remove coronal gutta-percha.
Vertically compact softened gutta-percha apically in increments.
Aim to create a dense apical seal (usually 4–5 mm).

BACK FILL..
Remaining canal space is filled with heated thermoplasticized gutta-percha.
Add material incrementally.

VERTICAL CONDENSATION..
Compact each increment vertically using pluggers to avoid voids.

CORONAL SEAL..
Remove excess material from chamber.
Seal access cavity with restorative material.
