🦷 Dry Socket After Tooth Extraction – Causes, Symptoms & Prevention
Dry socket occurs when the blood clot in the extraction site gets dislodged or dissolves, exposing the bone and nerves. This can cause severe pain, bad breath, and delayed healing.
❌ Causes: Rinsing too early, smoking, using hydrogen peroxide, straws, or touching the socket.
⚠️ Symptoms: Intense pain 2–4 days after extraction, radiating to ear/jaw, bad smell, empty-looking socket.
🛡 Prevention: Avoid rinsing for 24 hours, stick to soft foods, don’t smoke, use gentle warm salt-water rinses after Day 1, and avoid touching the area.
Follow these steps for safe, fast healing!
