Significance of Milk Teeth
Baby teeth are very important to your child's health and development. They help him or her chew, speak and smile. They also hold space in the jaws for permanent teeth that are growing under the gums --they save space for the child's future permanent teeth. A baby tooth usually remains in the child's mouth until a permanent tooth underneath it is ready to emerge through the gums.
Should Milk Teeth be Treated.....
Yes....Cavities i.e decay in baby teeth must be treated :-
Cavities on baby teeth are treated with fillings, which help prevent the cavity from worsening or spreading. When tooth decay is not treated by dental professionals, or with proper oral care, teeth can become riddled with cavities and then it leads to loss of the teeth eventually. Ultimately extractions have to be done and once taken out that area is then blocked by bone formation thereby hindering the eruption of its permanent successor. Secondly..... if prematurely extracted other teeth that come out (erupt) will drift and occupy that tooth's place thereby blocking it's way so either it will come out in a mal position wrong place place or sometimes gets stuck. That child will need braces in future to correct the alignment of his or her teeth.
So.......Please Keep an eye on your children's or grandchildren's teeth. Parents tend to over look their oral hygiene thinking they will be replaced by the permanent teeth and actually are destroying the chances of a healthy aligned set of permanent teeth. Healthy teeth mean future Good Health
